Carolyn"s body of work represent s genesis of artistic method. The collaged image is the concept, the artistic source of the painting but the painted image is unique as a developed work.In 1991 Carolyn exhibited twelve oil paintings based on collage at the Justina Barnicke Gallery, Hart House, U of T. This concentration of artistic process propelled her focus into a career of collage based paintings and teaching.
Carolyn’s paintings celebrate beauty through passion and the use of elemental contrasts. Color theory and painting technique is an integral part of her creative process. Mood and artistic possibilities express convictions about a warming environment. Through the camera lens she composes sunlight on nature and architecture. Her photography has become the original art form. Her work expresses a depth of meaning that transcend photo-realism. Painted imagery is layered to express realism pushing boundaries of meaning, contrast and beauty.
Portaiture remains a strongly expressed form relative to the composition and as a comissioned work.
Carolyn has taught art classes for adults and children in art schools and self employed positions. She continues to teach oil technique and artistic expression. Carolyn graduated from a fine arts program from the Toronto School of Art in 1986, continuing studio work with artists and exhibiting in galleries, studios, art centers and public venues.
Carolyn is a strongly motivated fine artist winning awards and attention for technique and artistic achievement. As the daughter of professional classical musicians she has participated in classical musical performance. Music is a significant part of her experience as an inherent link to visual art.
